WHAT WE CAN ALL LEARN FROM DANNY TANNER

A guide to intentional Spring Cleaning

If you grew up in the late 80's + 90's and don't live under a rock, you surely remember the guy that everyone wished was their dad, Danny Tanner (except for in real life he is kind of a creep, but for the sake of this post let's table that).

Danny Tanner (DT) was a bit of a spas about cleaning. Okay, A TOTAL spas. However he kept an amazingly welcoming and beautiful home for his family that was seriously enviable.

He totally owned his cleaning tendencies even when he overheard his family talking sh*t about him while he was re-lining the closet shelves (there was however that brief stint of self loathing and a donkey ride, then he was fine).

In the spirit of the new "Fuller House," + the first day of Spring cleaning, I am taking us back to a simpler time to take a look at how DT's "Psycho with a dust mop" attitude is actually something we can learn from (if you remember this episode, I love you)!

How you do anything is how you do everything
To be honest, I f*cking hated this saying the first time I heard it. It was during an insanely difficult spin class when I started to slow down a bit...I was ready to jump off my bike and storm off in a very dramatic exit (don't worry. I've analyzed that thought-pattern).

Unfortunately this makes sense. Take a close look at what your attitude is towards cleaning and try to relate it to other areas of your life.

If you cut corners with cleaning, you probably cut corners with your work or your goals.

If you are insane OCD about cleaning, you probably have some control issues that surface in areas like eating, drinking or relationships.

If you wait for a huge, disgusting mess to pile up to a point where you cannot handle it and THEN start cleaning, you probably tolerate a lot of unnecessary crap in your life and ignore your true passion and desires..which nicely leads into my next point...

Yo-yoing is no bueno
Imagine a life where you are so intentional that a mess just never happens. As soon as a dish is used, you wash it right away. As soon as you have enough dirty whites, the laundry machine goes on without questions.

This would probably be the same life in which you lived every moment THE WAY YOU WANTED TO LIVE IT.

When you wait for things to get all levels of shitty before you decide to deal with them you are going to miss out on so many of the things you want to do because you'll be stressed and wasting energy!

Out with the old and in with the new
I speak A LOT about purging your clothes and old stuff. Not only does this make room for new and better stuff but it also rids your space of stale energy.

Plus, in the spirit of "How you do anything is how you do everything," what habits, blocks or patterns can you get rid of?

Once you get rid of habits that are not serving you it opens you up to new habits that serve your intentions!

I am opening the space for some Q&A here! What sh*t do you need to get rid of?

Email me at amber-lee@humblelifestyle.com and I will tell you exactly how to do it!
